What is a Leap Year?
A leap year is a year with 366 days instead of the usual 365 days. The extra day (February 29) is added to keep our calendar in alignment with the Earth's revolutions around the Sun.
The rules for determining a leap year are:
- The year must be divisible by 4
- If the year is divisible by 100, it is NOT a leap year, UNLESS...
- The year is also divisible by 400, then it is a leap year
